Whistleblowing

 Whistleblowing

Whistleblowing occurs when a worker or volunteer raises a concern about potential danger

or illegality that they have witnessed through work.

By having an open environment and the correct policies and procedures, people will have

the confidence to speak out if they are concerned about or are the victim of neglect,

physical, sexual or emotional abuse including bullying or racial abuse. Unlawful

misconduct (e.g. accepting bribes, assaulting children/young people), financial malpractice

(e.g. stealing petty cash, full-blown fraud), dangers to the public, dangers to the

environment, and safety of people on the project may be other areas of concern.

Action2Change we will ensure that all parties are aware of what to do if they have

worries. We will take whistleblowers concerns seriously, ensuring that concerns are

properly and objectively investigated, with appropriate action taken.

● Make sure workers know the difference between whistleblowing and

complaining

● Concerns should be raised with the Director. This can initially be verbally but should

be then confirmed in writing.

● If the concern is about a senior member of staff or Director the concern can be taken

to the LADO officer at WMDC, You could also contact the body you feel best suited

to match the concerns, eg assault WYP or Social services for mis-conduct against a

child.

● Use Confidentiality wherever possible.

● Victimization and harassment will not be tolerated.

● Jobs will not be threatened by raising a concern in good faith.

● Deliberately malicious actions could be subject to disciplinary

procedures.
